From Food Poisoning in Goa to Divine Varanasi

Daily writing prompt
What’s the longest trip you’ve ever taken?

The longest trip I’ve taken was to Goa from Bengaluru, and the longest official work trip was to Danapur, Bihar.

Both were memorable trips with very unique experiences. Both had some disastrous moments as well as some really good memories.

On the way to Goa, somehow we ended up eating half-spoiled chicken, and many of us, including me, got diarrhea during the journey. It was honestly a horrible situation. But once we reached Goa, everything changed. We enjoyed the beaches, had parties, and overall, it turned out to be a great trip. It was a first beach experience for me.

The Bihar trip was a completely different experience. It was a new place for me, the food was different, and I had to stay there for 15 days each time—I actually made two trips there. The office work was very slow and seemed never-ending. I even had a fever during one of the trips.

But the best thing about the Bihar trips was that I got the opportunity to visit Varanasi, and that was one of the most blessed experiences of my life.

In Sanatan Dharma, there is a belief that a person should visit Varanasi at least once in their lifetime, and I feel blessed that I was able to fulfill that. Having darshan of Lord Kashi Vishwanath was one of the most divine experiences I’ve ever had. I also visited a few ghats and spent some time near the Ganga.

And after being away from home for 10–15 days, having South Indian food again was a different kind of happiness! 😄

So, even though both trips had their share of problems, they gave me memories that I’ll probably never forget.
