I have always been an introverted person with low confidence and self-esteem. I never thought I would travel to so many places or communicate with people as much as I do now, but I did!
Even today, I don’t speak much with strangers, but I do make an effort to communicate. Earlier, I spoke even less. I have my job from years ago to thank for this change. That job required me to travel across India for almost half of every month.
I visited many places and cities, including a jail for official work 😅, holy places, museums, and more.
During these travels, I visited Kashi Vishwanath Temple and received the blessing of the Ganga. On another occasion, I visited a gold jewellery manufacturing factory. There, I learned that even the tiny gold particles scattered during the jewellery-making process are collected and reused. It was fascinating to discover how carefully such valuable material is recovered.
My visit to the jail was another unique experience. Normally, I didn’t even visit a police station in my life, but my official work required me to visit a jail. One unusual incident happened there, too. One of the prisoners had taken a spoon and sharpened it into a knife. The jail staff discovered it and were investigating the incident.
I also got to taste food from different parts of India and see many historical landmarks.
Looking back, I never imagined that I would have these experiences. A job that took me far outside my comfort zone helped me discover something new about myself: I actually enjoy travelling!
That experience awakened a desire in me to see more of the world. Sometimes, life takes us places we never imagined we would go, and along the way, we discover possibilities we never knew existed.
