Lessons from Sanatan Dharma and Jesus on Being a Good Person

What does it mean to be a good person?

It’s simple as per Sanatan Dharma.

Good person is the one who follows the “Dharma”

There are various versions of a good person.

I also believe that the definition of a “good person” will change with generation or age.

In Hindu scriptures, we have four ages or Yugas. With each age, dharma became less and less prevalent. The age which we are in “Kali” Yuga is the age where dharma stands on one leg compared to the first age where it was standing on 4 legs.

Most important role played in a person’s life are parents and teachers. If they are good, then the person will grow up good, isn’t it?

Of course not everybody will have same circumstances, some not have any parents, some may not get education. Their life circumstances force them to become tainted with negative aspects. They can change too later in life.

Ultimately in this age, I believe a person is the who helps other in need and love the people in general. After all, Jesus has said, “Love your neighbors as you love yourself”. I think this says it all.

  1. The Golden Rule is found in many religions. I think it’s good to see the overlap of different faiths.
