We all have funny misunderstandings from childhood, and I’m no exception. Looking back, some of mine still make me laugh.
When I was little, I imagined Earth as a giant round ball floating in the empty void of space, with a huge, bottomless well somewhere underneath it.
Like many kids, I also thought babies somehow just came out of their mother’s stomach. I had absolutely no idea how it actually worked. 😅
One of my funniest misunderstandings came from books. I first read what I thought was the final Harry Potter book, but it turned out to be fan fiction. Because of that, I was convinced Professor Snape was completely evil. Later, when I finally read the real book, I realized how wrong I had been.
My most embarrassing misunderstanding happened when I was introduced to the Harry Potter universe before reading The Lord of the Rings. Since both stories have elves, I imagined Tolkien’s elves looking like the house-elves from Harry Potter. When I finally watched The Lord of the Rings movies and saw elegant elves like Legolas and Galadriel, I realized I’d been picturing them completely wrong the whole time. I couldn’t help but laugh at myself. 😅😅
