Doomscrolling: My Love-Hate Relationship with Social Media Apps

Daily writing prompt
What app eats up most of your screen time — and do you even feel bad about it?

I don’t use social media apps like insta or facebook. But sometimes, some of my friends or colleagues share some reel or post which I have to look at. At that time, I’ll install those apps and use them for some time.

My main problem with these apps are the reels or short videos, specifically doom scrolling. I’m unwilling to stop this and continue this sometimes for hours. So I’ll uninstall them. And again some reel or post happens and I’ll install, this loop repeats again and again.

Apart from these 2(insta & facebook), I’ll use whatsapp for communications, youtube in general & jetpack.

Even youtube has shorts and that is addictive too. So I’ll minimize watching youtube shorts as much as possible. If you have any tips to minimize, please let me know in the comments section below.

I’m happy to use jetpack as it is useful for checking blogs, reviews, comments, etc. I’m definitely happy to use this app.

  1. Purpose gives your life direction.
    Vision gives your steps meaning.
And your definition of success becomes the roadmap that keeps you from chasing every distraction.

Don’t spend your life climbing the wrong mountain.

    Know your purpose.
    Define your success.
Then build a life that reflects both.
