I’m actually in-between on one book ending, The Inheritance Cycle.
It’s one of the best fantasy series featuring dragons that I’ve ever read. When I first finished the series, I wasn’t satisfied with the ending. The hero leaves Alagaësia to travel to distant lands, and there isn’t a clear conclusion to his love life.
But the more I thought about it, the more I appreciated the ending. Dragon Riders live incredibly long lives, practically immortal unless someone kills them. There’s plenty of time for love to find its place in the hero’s future. And as for adventures, I’m sure many more await him. So, I’m eagerly waiting for the next book from the author Christopher Paolini.
Speaking of book endings, I once had a very unusual experience with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Before the official book reached me, I unknowingly read a fan-written version, believing it was the real novel by J. K. Rowling. Later, I discovered it was unofficial and bought the genuine book.
In a way, the ending really did change for me. That’s a unique reading experience I’ll probably never have again.
