Rethinking the Famous Saying: Money Can Buy Happiness

Share a proverb you think is completely wrong and make your case.

This is the one proverb I disagree with:

Money can’t buy happiness

Actually, I think it can, at least to some extent.

In today’s world, unless you choose to live as an ascetic or a sanyasi, money has become one of the most essential necessities of life.

Let’s start with the basics.

What does every human being need?

  • Food
  • Shelter
  • Clothing

All of these require money.

A person who enjoys a hearty meal after being hungry feels happy. Someone who is starving is unlikely to be happy. Money helps fulfill these basic needs and removes many sources of stress.

Beyond survival, money also allows us to travel, experience beautiful places, try cuisines from around the world, pursue hobbies, and create memorable moments.

Of course, money cannot buy genuine love or true relationships.

But it can help us spend quality time with the people we love and create experiences that bring happiness.

That said, endless greed isn’t the answer either. There is a difference between having enough money to live well and making money the only purpose of life.
