Why India Is More Than Just the Stereotypes

Daily writing prompt
What are the biggest mistakes people make when visiting your country?

One of the biggest mistakes people make is assuming that all of India is unclean, polluted, or full of slums.

While it’s true that some cities struggle with pollution and waste management, that doesn’t define the entire country.

India is one of the world’s oldest civilizations and has a long history of hygiene, sanitation practices, and urban planning dating back thousands of years. Like any large nation, it has both strengths and challenges.

What many visitors don’t realize is how incredibly diverse India is. It is home to countless ethnic groups, languages, cultures, and religions, and it is the birthplace of several major faiths.

Geographically, the country has almost everything, from the wettest places on Earth to deserts, forests, grasslands, mountains, plateaus, islands, and vast plains.

India has continuously adapted and evolved through centuries of change while preserving its rich heritage.

I’m proud to be an Indian and I hope more people experience the country with an open mind instead of relying on stereotypes.
