Living in Bengaluru Helped Me Become Multilingual

Daily writing prompt
Which languages do you speak and how did that impact your life?

I’m lucky to say that I speak multiple languages. Not only can I speak them, but I can also read and write in several of them.

My mother tongue is Telugu. We generally speak it at home. I can speak and read Telugu, although I never formally learned how to write it.

Since I was brought up in Bengaluru, Kannada was part of my education. As a result, I can speak, read, and write Kannada fluently.

I also learned Hindi in school. However, I don’t speak it very often because I don’t have many friends who communicate in Hindi.

Apart from these, I know a little Tamil and Malayalam, which I picked up while working with colleagues in different offices.

Knowing multiple languages has been a great advantage in both my professional and personal life. I believe this opportunity came from growing up in Bengaluru, a city filled with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

I love Bengaluru because it has given me wonderful friends, unforgettable experiences, and a place where I have spent most of my life.

I’m proud to be a Bengalurean. 😊

  1. Same here! Bengaluru will always be special to me. The temples, the fragrance of fresh flowers, lifelong friendships, lovely weather, weekend getaways, and even the traffic jams tell a story! 😄 There’s something warm and welcoming about the city that makes it feel like home, no matter where life takes us. 🌸😊
