From Mars Dreams to Starry Nights: A Reflection on Humanity’s Future

Daily writing prompt
Do you think humans will ever colonize Mars? What would life there actually look like?

Oh, humans will definitely colonize Mars. It may take a long time, but I believe it’ll happen.

It could happen in my lifetime or long after I’m gone, we never really know.

Humans have always been driven to explore what lies beyond their reach. We dreamed of going to the Moon and made it happen. We’ve already sent rovers to Mars, and we’ve even imagined life there through movies like The Martian and John Carter.

Sadly, if Mars ever becomes habitable, I imagine politics, real estate, and social inequality will follow us there too. The rich will probably get the first opportunity, and the rest will have to wait.

I don’t doubt that humans will eventually develop the technology needed to survive on Mars.

That said, I’m perfectly happy spending my entire life on Earth.

My biggest wish isn’t to visit another planet, it’s to experience more of this one. I want to see untouched natural wonders, witness the polar auroras, or simply stand on the roof of my house and look up at a sky overflowing with stars, free from city lights and tall buildings. These days, you can only truly find that kind of night sky in villages or remote places.
