Self-Confidence Starts with Self-Knowledge

Daily writing prompt
What’s the best way to build self-confidence?

As far as I know, knowledge is one of the best ways to build self-confidence.

Two types of knowledge are especially important.

Knowledge about yourself:
Know yourself well. Understand your strengths, weaknesses, values, and goals. The more self-aware you become, the less room there is for ignorance and self-doubt.

Knowledge about your work or passion:
The more you learn about the subjects that matter to you, the more confident you become in your abilities. Competence naturally creates confidence.

Along with knowledge, you should develop a firm belief in yourself. Focus on the reasons why you can succeed instead of constantly thinking about why you can’t.

Self-confidence grows when self-awareness, competence, and belief come together.

  1. One of my personal favorite questions to ask is: “How do you know it is true?” If the answer is not aligned with your values, it is probably not your truth ;-)

    1. I like that approach. Sometimes simply asking ourselves, “How do I know this is true?” is enough to break self-doubt and see things more clearly.
