A Name Given in Memory: The Story of My Middle Name

Daily writing prompt
What is your middle name? Does it carry any special meaning/significance?

I do have a middle name (I have forgone my surname), and there is a small story behind it.

My father had a sister – not exactly a sibling, but a distant relative whom he always considered his own sister. He was very fond of her. Sadly, she passed away around the time my own sister was born.

In her memory, my father took half of her name and included it in both of our names – mine and my sister’s. It was his way of remembering someone he cared deeply about.

It may not sound like a remarkable story, but it carried great meaning for my father. Out of respect for his feelings and the memory behind it, we continue to carry the name with pride.
