Dharma, Destiny, and Choice: A Modern Reflection

Daily writing prompt
Do you believe in fate/destiny?

Believing in fate/destiny…

I can say that, fate/destiny is what we make of it. God might have created and wrote the fate of us.

But it is in our power to change the fate if we truly want. And it requires a lot of effort, determination, perseverance, courage….

But do we want to change that….

If we do and move towards that journey, most the people are just exhausted at the beginning of the journey and they think it’s too cumbersome and decide it cannot be changed.

I was like this too….

The main problem here is do we really need to change our destiny….. they nothing should stop that person from achieving it….

We believe that is unachievable and we name it as destiny/fate and leave it at that. We ask God to change it for us.

If we do our part, then God can definitely change it or rather He gives to us the correct guidance to change it.

That’s what I believe.

I’m not saying this out of defiance or some such thing. I just know that this can be done.

Do I want to change my fate?

I don’t know what my fate is and I intend to forge my own life. I’m stuck at the question, do I need to do it…?

Is is my brain procrastinating….? If this procrastination is my fate, then I definitely need to change it and has been trying to … for some time.

I know I have everything in me to achieve anything I want, but the reason only which I don’t have, I think.

When I find answer to this…I feel renewed and refreshed. And I’m waiting for that moment , also driving towards that moment in my way.

It’s true that I have some duty in this world. My Dharma…. But always this question…. why do I have to do it and do I need to do it?

What do you think about my philosophy….? Is this perspective wrong ?

  1. Not wrong at all.
It feels less like philosophy and more like an honest wrestle between faith and effort. Maybe destiny is not a fixed script, but a draft β€” and we keep editing while walking through it.

      1. Maybe it is not about following a script at all.
Perhaps it is about deciding, moment by moment, what feels right and taking responsibility for that choice.

      3. I have been thinking about your words for some time now…..and I have decided this – if there’s no destination, it’s better to make a destination and go towards it. Only problem is ingraining it into my mind, which I’m thinking about right now. Thank you for your message. It did spark something in me….πŸ™‚πŸ‘

      4. That is wonderful to read.
Sometimes the simple act of choosing a direction changes everything. Glad those words could light a small spark.

  2. Beautifully expressed, Girish ji.
Your words remind us that destiny isn’t a limitation but a question and the answer is something we find within ourselves.🀍✨
