Why I Don’t Have One Favorite Drink — A Mindful Approach

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite drink?

I do have a sweet tooth, so naturally I enjoy sweet processed drinks—but I also know too much sugar isn’t good for the body, so I keep them to a minimum.

When it comes to caffeine, I try to be mindful. I usually stick to green tea, and that too mostly at the office. Recently, I started having black coffee once a week.

Whenever I catch a cold, I prepare my own herbal kashayam. The ingredients are simple: five black pepper, ten holy basil leaves, and about two grams of ginger. I crush them, boil them in two cups of water until it reduces to one, and drink it warm. It’s refreshing and soothing for coughs and colds.

So ultimately, I don’t really have a single “favorite drink.” I choose my drink based on the situation, the time, and what my body needs.

  2. Nicely penned! When it comes to drink I just stick to green tea. Occassionally I add giner, crushed pepper and clove.

    1. That’s great…I do the same, except I don’t use clover in this. I use basil leaves.
