What My Parents Were Doing at My Age – A Reflection on Gratitude and Responsibility

Daily writing prompt
What were your parents doing at your age?

My parents had been married for 13 years when they were my age. My father had just opened a small business, and it was doing well. We had recently come out of a difficult phase, and there was finally a sense of peace in the family.

I have seen both the highs and lows of their lives with my own eyes. No matter what they went through, they always took care of my sister and me. For that, I will always remain grateful.

Though I couldn’t do much for my father because of his untimely passing six years ago, I carry a promise in my heart, to take proper care of my mother.

She is growing older now, and I want to ease the weight from her shoulders, to give her the peace and comfort she truly deserves in her later years..

Her hard work & determination built my life, my responsibility now is to make her life gentle and worry-free.
