What do you listen to while you work?
“Concentrating on one thing at a time may be the single most important factor in achieving flow.” – Ikigai
When I’m working, I don’t listen to anything. I’ve learned that I’m not built for multitasking, trying to listen and work simultaneously leaves me distracted and unfocused. I can’t give either task the attention it deserves. The result? Sloppy work and the frustrating feeling of having missed out on what I was trying to listen to.
For me, focusing on one task at a time makes me far more productive and more fulfilled. Interestingly, the book Ikigai reviews this idea, emphasizing how deep concentration and single tasking help us ever a state of flow. It’s not just about getting things done – it’s about doing them well, and with purpose.
However I do multitask sometimes for “not so important” works like home cleaning. It’s the kind of multi tasking that feels light and manageable.
